Why am I doing this?

Good question.

Simple answer - there's not much else to do, given the current situation. Ever since graduating university I've been lazing about all day, doing nothing but play The Sims 2 like it's 2004 again. So I figured hey, I have a degree (an ACTUAL degree! With my name on it!) in Creative Writing now, how can I put it to use? I'm not having much luck with job searching and any attempts at novels, if we can call them that, aren't exactly going well. If they were, I probably wouldn't be writing this. My fingers might as well get some exercise instead of just rotting away, and combining my passion for writing with my love for TS2 could give them the perfect work out. Hopefully.

This blog may end up going in other directions however I am intending on it to simply document my gameplay (namely my Pleasantview save, currently nearing the end of round 5) as well as share my rules/strategies, favourite mods, and other ramblings. Additionally I'm hoping it'll give me the kick up the ass I've been needing for a while to finally write TS2 fanfics. Ideas for plots and fics are recklessly bouncing around my head every day; they're giving me a headache.

If for some reason all this interests you, then great! Welcome! I'm always up for chats about TS2 but be warned - I may write essays gushing about how much I love this game. Maybe they'll become ideas for future blog posts...

Favourite Mods

Inspired by Pleasant Sims' fantastic  recommended mods list , aka the bible for Sims 2 mods. Though there may be some overlaps (especially where critical mods are concerned), I will only be including the mods I personally use and my favourites in this post. My Downloads folder is very bulky - over 10k files - but I have trawled through it in order to comprise a comprehensive directory of mods I cannot play without and would like to recommend to the three other people still playing TS2 in 2020. How to download mods (.package files): go to your Sims 2 folder in your documents, create a new folder called Downloads, and place the packages there. My Gameplay Rules

Ever since I was inspired by Pleasant Sims to regress  revisit my childhood and play TS2 again a few months back, I have been playing the game quite... seriously? I guess you could say. The months I have spent in front of my laptop controlling these little pixelated people have led to me establishing my own gameplay 'rules', many of which are stolen from  inspired by Pleasant Sims. Currently, I am enjoying a rotational, wants-based gameplay with the premade hoods, namely Pleasantview and Strangetown. Here is a full list of how I play and the rules I follow (sometimes rather liberally) which may be subject to change as I continue playing. Pleasantview Family Trees

Ahead of my upcoming Pleasantview Let's Play series, here are the family trees for all of my households. I use Family Echo to track my family trees. For the sake of readability, I have cut some screenshots just to focus on the household at hand, though I will include important relations under each picture.
